Dabble Darts ANZ Premier League is Finally Here!

When the ANZ Premier League of darts was announced earlier this year it's fair to say there was a lot of scepticism. Who would be drawcard from a playing perspective? Would the fans turn up? Could the promoters recreate the atmosphere and action of the Premier League itself or the World Series that has visited Wollongong for the past few years (and other states before it)?
Well, it's time to find out. Fair to say the promoters have ticked a lot of the boxes.

No question this has created opportunities for local players that we haven't seen before. Question is, can it capture the imagination of the darting public? A's quick scan of each event's ticket shows strong support across the board. The tables - the beating heart of every darts event - are almost sold out across most of the nights - a great sign of things to come.
Simon Whitlock is the star attraction. The dreadlocked Aussie has been the face of darts in Australia for as long as most can remember. Right now, like everyone else, he's battling to secure the coveted ticket to the World Championships at London's Alexander Palace in December. That's the prize everyone is fighting for with the Dabble Darts ANZ Premier League, copying the European Premier League format with preliminary rounds leading to a finals night where the winner will be crowned.
This year finals night is to be held in Brisbane, at Nissan Arena.
Let's hope the fans turn out in their droves and this becomes a tradition for darts in a Australia for year's to come.
